Avondale Scout Reservation Hunting

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana: The Istrouma Area Council Board of Directors Executive Committee considered all the concerns related to the upcoming construction and installation of shooting ranges, climbing structures, and aquatic areas. Safety is always our first concern. Therefore, for the safety of all involved, there will be a NO Hunting at ASR Policy for the next two years. This will give the Council Properties and Risk Management committees time to evaluate insurance needs and define safety protocols before any kind of hunting resumes.

We will continue working closely with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in herd research and management.

The Istrouma Area Council, (IAC) serves 13 parishes in Louisiana and Wilkinson County, Mississippi. We provide a quality Scouting program to more than 5,000 co-ed youth. Over 3,000 adult volunteers support 285 Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venturing Crews and Exploring Posts.

It is the mission of the Istrouma Area Council, Boys Scouts of America, to build character, citizenship and total fitness while preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over the course of their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
