2023 Scouts BSA Summer Camp

Welcome to our 2023 Camp Avondale Summer Camp.

Thank you for considering the Istrouma Area Council Scouts BSA Sumer Camp. The Staff at Avondale Scout Reservation will inspire you to experience Scouting at its best and we can’t wait to have you as our guests!

Avondale Scout Reservation is 1,680 acres of prime Scout real estate that features three lakes, a swimming beach, canoeing, a climbing tower, ATVs, robotics, trails for biking and hiking, and so much more.  Scouts of all ages and Scouters can enjoy an outstanding summer camp program.  From the "First Class Quest" - to our merit badge program, and our challenging older youth program, Scouts of all ages will experience fun and adventure while maximizing their advancement opportunities.

The Istrouma Area Council will offer the opportunity for campers to earn most of the requirements to achieve First Class in the 1st year program called "First Class Quest".  We will offer the opportunity to work on outdoor skills, citizenship, first aid, and swimming.  Each Scout will be able to work on Swimming, First Aid, Camping, Fingerprinting, and Astronomy Merit Badges.  There will also be free time for free shooting, archery, climbing, boating, and much, much more.  It is intended to get through most of the requirements except the physical fitness, participation, money, recruiting, and Scout Spirit portions of the requirements through the rank of First Class.

Camp Registration

All registration will be online.  Step one will be to sign up for a week are looking to come and submit a site deposit of $100.00 that can be applied to your total camp fees.  Step two is to sign up your youth and submit fees. Step three is done after all fees are paid, which is when Merit Badges/Classes can be selected online.  As such, we are requiring troops to collect and submit fees as a unit rather than having Scouts pay individually.

The camp program will end after the Friday Night Closing Campfire. Units are encouraged to stay Friday night and enjoy the provided breakfast Saturday morning.  We strongly urge Units not to travel late on Friday night, but during daylight on Saturday.
