AD ALTARE DEI RELIGIOUS EMBLEM PROGRAM

We are pleased to announce that the Northshore District is offering the Ad Altare Dei Catholic Religious Emblem program again this year. Last year several Scouts from the District earned this prestigious Award.
Scouts who earn this Religious Emblem are also entitled to wear a BSA Religious Knot over their left pocket. In addition, earning the Ad Altare Dei Award is one of the requirements needed to apply for scholarships including the Emmett J Doerr Memorial Scout Scholarship. The sessions focus on the seven sacraments and will run from
September 2024 to March 2025 with the presentation of the medal by Archbishop Aymond on April 5th for Scouts who complete the work. The sessions will be in-person on Sundays in Mandeville. Below are the tentative dates for the sessions:
- 9/22 Information meeting
- 9/29 Introduction to the Sacraments
- 10/13 Baptism
- 10/27 Confirmation
- 11/10 Eucharist part 1
- 11/16 Retreat
- 12/8 Eucharist part 2
- 1/12 Reconciliation
- 1/26 Anointing of the Sick
- 2/9 Holy Orders
- 2/23 Marriage
- 3/9 Make up session
- 3/16 Board of Review
- 4/5 Award Ceremony at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church
Who is eligible?
- Any youth 7th - 12th grader of the Roman Catholic Faith who is registered in a BSA Troop or Crew.
- Active member of a unit for 6 months.
Interestered in participating or to learn more? Attend an informational meeting on September 22 at 3:00 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Church in the cafeteria. We will answer questions and tell you how to register officially. September 22 is just an informational session and sign up.
